Nicholas Karnaze graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a BS in Political Science with emphasis on Intelligence and National Security. Upon graduation in 2004 Karnaze was commissioned as a 2nd Lt in the US Marine Corps and subsequently became an Intelligence Officer. His first duty station was in Okinawa, Japan where he served with the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing. While in Japan, he deployed to Afghanistan as part of a nine man Embedded Training Team (ETT) from the 3rd Marine Regiment. He worked both in central Afghanistan and in eastern Afghanistan along the Pakistani boarder while working with the Afghan Boarder Police. During that deployment is where he first worked with Special Operations Forces (SOF) and realized that is what he wanted to do in the military. Upon his return from deployment,he applied for and eventually joined the newly established US Marine Forces Special Operations Command (MARSOC). He served as a Platoon Commander East for MARSOC's Intelligence Company for a year. In 2008 he became the S-2 (Intelligence Officer) for the 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion (2nd MSOB). After successfully completing MARSOC's Assessment & Selection (A&S), hejoined Marine Special Operations Company Hotel (MSOC H). In 2010 they deployed to western Afghanistan where he served as the company's Intelligence Officer, Information Operations Officer, Stabilization & Development Officer, and conducted other special operations. . Upon return from deployment, he elected to leave the Marine Corps in 2011 and start his first business focused on international stabilization operations.
